
CTO – Zimpler
Zimpler is a Swedish Fintech company with the vision to provide faster and safer payment solutions. They are the leading account-to-account provider, with the highest bank coverage on the market. This enables them to offer the best conversion rate for businesses and boost their cash flow. Zimpler develops, sells and markets payment methods and other solutions that simplifies digital transactions, and their key promise is to make it work for you. they want to supply the customer with time efficient solutions so they can save time between transactions and benefit from stronger relationships with their customers. Zimpler is an authorized payment platform under the supervision of the Swedish Financial Supervisory Authority.
Zimpler aims to become a global leader in innovative payment solutions by partnering with leading companies, expanding beyond single transactions, and focusing on creating value for merchants throughout the customer journey. They also seek to be one of the top three players in the open banking space and have a global presence across multiple continents by 2025. In order to achieve this Zimpler is now looking for a CTO to lead the tech team.
Experience & Competence
- Experience from a start-up/scale-up tech company
- Understanding of Mission Critical services (e.g. uptime, transactions) and how this affects processes. Merit with experience from Fintech/payments or banking ecosystem
- Senior Management experience
- Proven track record from creating structure and roadmaps that have been executed successfully and the ability to prioritize accordingly
- Multiple years of experience from software development organizations
- Commercial approach with a good ability to define product requirements together with Product/Growth and work cross functionally
- Priority with B2B experience, merit with both B2B and B2C

Goals of the Role
0-6 Months (short)
- Get to know / Assess the team, are we right staffed and structured for the next step in our journey: Meet with each member of your team to understand their roles, and establish a good rapport with them.
- Assess security risks: Evaluate the security risks and implement measures to ensure data privacy and security.
- Establish a product/tech roadmap: Work with the product team to develop a product roadmap that aligns with the company’s vision and goals.
- Identify and address technical debt: Identify any areas of technical debt and prioritize it for resolution.
6-12 Months (medium)
- Build a high-performance team: Continuous improvement of work processes and ensure a high performance delivery vs peers in the industry
- Improve the customer experience: Work with the product team to improve the user experience and identify opportunities to add new features.
- Develop a scalable architecture: Design and implement a scalable architecture that can support the company’s growth over the next few years.
- Establish a culture of innovation: Foster a culture of innovation within the team and encourage experimentation and collaboration.
- Implement data-driven decision making: Use data to make informed decisions about product development, resource allocation, and team performance.
1-3 Years (long)
- Lead the organization’s technology strategy: Develop and lead the company’s technology strategy, ensuring it aligns with the company’s overall vision and goals.
- Drive technological innovation: Keep abreast of emerging technologies and identify opportunities to incorporate them into the company’s products and services.
- Ensure regulatory compliance: Stay up-to-date with regulatory requirements and ensure that the company’s technology infrastructure is compliant with relevant laws and regulations.
- Develop a world-class engineering team: Establish a reputation as an employer of choice for engineers and attract top talent to the organization.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement: Encourage a culture of continuous improvement within the team, where each team member is encouraged to learn and grow, and share their knowledge with others
- Organize the team in a cost effective way; that maximizes value to customers and enables global growth. Balance on-shore/off-shore strategies with speed of innovation, and global coverage
Start: Q3 2023 or as soon as possible
Location: Primarily Gothenburg (if Stockholm minimum 4 days in Gothenburg the first 12 months)
Office Time: Flex with office first policy – want to be at the office (new offices in Stockholm or Gothenburg)
Travel: Limited, Regular travel to Stockholm office
